Hospital bed availability reporting in Nigeria
OpenBed is a public visibility service for hospital-reported bed availability, starting in Lagos. It helps referring clinicians, ambulance crews and families find participating hospitals to call. It is free for everyone who uses it.
Join OpenBed as a hospital
Hospitals interested in participating can write to hello@openbed.ng for the joining pack. Joining is not completed by reading this page or clicking a search result. Read about the operator.
Hospital and ward teams publish their own counts
Each participating hospital has a sign-in for its wards or the hospital. Staff report available beds or that a ward is not admitting. The public list shows the report and its age. OpenBed does not estimate, invent or edit hospital counts. Read how reporting works.
Supported reporting categories
The categories are Emergency (A&E), Adult ICU, Children's ICU (PICU), Adult medical ward, Children's ward, Operating theatre, Surgical ward, Maternity, Newborn ICU (NICU) and Special care baby unit (SCBU). A category is a reporting option, not a claim that every hospital offers it.
A bed visibility tool for referrals
A hospital bed dashboard or ward capacity portal helps referring teams find hospitals to contact. OpenBed v1 publishes hospital capacity statements to support that call. It is not a hospital information system, patient record system, patient routing tool, bed allocation system or a complete bed management system.
OpenBed does not collect patient information, triage patients, rank hospitals by clinical suitability, reserve beds, arrange ambulances or manage transfers. Referring and receiving teams confirm admission directly.
Clear public reports without a public contact directory export
The live page carries the hospital's call contact for confirming reports. The discovery guides and sitemap contain informational page addresses only, with no hospital records, named wards or duty numbers. Historical hospital counts are private.
Information for patients and families
Check hospital availability, read the Nigeria guide or search in Lagos. No public account or app download is required. Counts are indicative: call the facility before you travel.
In an emergency, call 112 or 767 in Lagos; do not wait for an onboarding enquiry or a search result.
