ICU bed availability in Nigeria
If you are looking for an available ICU bed, adult intensive care, a children's ICU or a newborn intensive care unit, OpenBed lets you check participating hospitals' own reports by category. Open the hospital list. The service starts in Lagos; it does not claim nationwide ICU coverage.
Every count is indicative. Call the hospital to confirm current capacity and whether it can receive the patient. A reported bed does not establish clinical suitability, equipment or staffing.
Adult ICU and critical care beds
Check Adult ICU reports. This is the adult intensive care category. Searches for ICU bed space, critical care capacity or intensive care admission may lead here, but OpenBed does not determine eligibility for intensive care.
Children's ICU: PICU, paediatric or pediatric intensive care
Check Children's ICU (PICU) reports. PICU is separate from the general children's ward. The treating and receiving clinical teams decide which service is appropriate.
Newborn ICU: NICU and neonatal intensive care
Check Newborn ICU (NICU) reports. A NICU report is not a confirmation of incubator availability, neonatal equipment, neonatal specialists or a particular level of support. Confirm those details directly with the hospital.
Special care baby unit: SCBU
Check Special care baby unit (SCBU) reports. SCBU and NICU are separate OpenBed categories; they should not be treated as interchangeable. Ask the clinical teams to confirm the required receiving service.
HDU, ventilators, oxygen and specialist support
OpenBed does not currently have an HDU or high dependency unit filter, or searchable inventories for ventilators, oxygen, incubators, dialysis or other equipment. A capacity report cannot confirm those resources. Ask the facility directly about the requirements specified by the clinical team.
ICU beds near me or in Lagos
Choose an area or Near me on the live list and then the relevant category. Distances are straight-line comparisons. Read the Lagos search guide. An area starting point is not a statement that an ICU is reporting there.
For Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan or other Nigerian cities, check the live list for actual participating facilities. A missing facility or report does not establish that a city has no ICU beds.
Arranging admission or an ICU transfer
Use the report as a reason to make a call. The hospital must confirm its current capacity, admission decision, costs and any requirements. Referring and receiving clinicians coordinate transfer and transport directly. OpenBed does not reserve ICU beds, assess patients, arrange ambulances or recommend destinations.
What does no recent report mean?
It means OpenBed has no recent report to show for that ward, not that the ward is full. Older counts are labelled with their age. Read how report freshness works.
See all hospital bed categories. In an emergency, do not wait for a search result; call 112, or 767 in Lagos. Call the facility before you travel.
